Miertje Skidmore - Sites Unseen
An exhibition of new works, 'Sights Unseen' by Miertje Skidmore.

"This body of work, presents the often unseen elements of this amazing planet we inahbit. The complexities of a piece of quartz, calcite, opal and so on, are hidden deep in the earth, just waiting to mesmerise us upon discovery. Along with many other aspects of nature, they are hidden to our immediate observations, yet are endlessly abundant and incredibly diverse. Anyone who has dived in the great barrier reef would have to agree. These along with the staggering contrasts on this planet, like the immense power of the ocean, fire or wine, juxtaposed to the gentle and minute details in a leaf or a snowflake are the things I portray in my paintings. The works are completed with several layers over a period of time."
